Visiting Tchibo: Students Present Solutions to Reduce Returns

Last Thursday, a group of students from the Master's program in 足球即时比分 Logistics & Supply Chain Management had more on their agenda than just good coffee: The main focus of the excursion was gaining direct practical experience. Their destination was the headquarters of Tchibo in Hamburg. The students were accompanied by the program director, Prof. Dr. Dagmar Tomanek.

On site, the students presented the final presentation of their practical project, which they had worked on over the past few months. The central task was to develop concrete proposals to sustainably reduce Tchibo’s return rate.

With the help of a comprehensive status quo analysis, well-founded literature research and a benchmark analysis, the students developed practical and feasible solution proposals. Among other things, they recommended optimizing product descriptions and presentations in the online shop, as well as standardizing size information to avoid incorrect purchases. The indication of the environmental impact caused by returns was also recommended as a potential incentive for more conscious purchasing decisions. In addition, the students presented various AI-supported tools that could be used in different ways as digital customer support.

All proposals were clearly and thoroughly prepared and simulated on the Tchibo website using visualizations.

“I was truly impressed by the depth and the quality of your analysis and your practical solutions,” said Aline Buttelmann, Supply Chain Manager at Tchibo.
